EDIT: I added some more areas to the region, namely:
-A whole new route. This will be Calishu's "Bike Route" although there's a walkway separate from the main area for pedestrians. -A new place of interest above Nieblus City. -A brown "route" showing that there is a tunnel.
This is the fakemon region I based of of San Francisco, from this > [link]
After some deliberation, I've decided to call it the Calishu Region, after Latin caligo, "fog", and Chinese 水 shuǐ, "water". So basically Calishu means "foggy waters", a reference to SanFran. The name is also influeced by California. isnpired the name.
The Calishu Region has a cool, even climate overall, but the northwest is a bit warmer and drier and the mountainous southeast is much, much colder and snow is a common occurrence, even in the summer. Fog is a usual occurrence around the cities of Nieblus and Chene (the biggest city and the one to the east of it, respectively)
I'n still in the process of developing the cities, towns, and routes. I'll add more as time goes by. Starting from the northwest and following the routes, they are: -Solida (soh-LEE-duh) Town- The starting town. It has a peaceful air about it, and the town's population largely consists of the elderly. -Elago (eh-LAH-goh) City- (not developed yet) -Penbay (PIHN-bay) City- (not developed yet) -Nieblus (nee-EH-bluhss) City- The largest and busiest city in Calishu, it is a center of commerce, culture, and the region's government. It is also famous for the Roho and Fogg Bridges. -Chene (SHEHN) City- (not developed yet) -(The south-easternernmost city, no name yet)- This city serves as the seat for the Elite Four, and also has a popular ski resort.
Suggestions are welcome, and very much wanted! Stay tuned as I add more information.
Nicely done, glad I could help. Very nice how you also made the name sound like California.
I personally don't know much about the San Francisco bay area, so I don't have very many suggestions. But I can give some advice. Make sure to use real-world land marks to your advantage. It may seem like copying, but really they make excellent springboards for bigger, more creative ideas.
By the way, a few questions:
Do the town's names have a common origin or something (like in Kanto, where they are all named after colors). I was just wondering where the names came from.
Also, do you plan on making a story line with a villainous group at its center?
Okay that's enough talking for me now . Good luck!
Thanks! Actually, the influence of "California" in the name was an afterthought.
I'll take that into consideration!
The cities and towns don't really have a naming scheme... but more or less they'll reference to their real world locations. For example, "Nieblus" is from Spanish niebla meaning "fog", because SanFran is foggy especially in the summer, and "Chene" is from French chêne meaning "oak", referencing Oakland.
To be honest, I hadn't really thought about storyline yet... I will eventually, though.
Okay, thanks! I'm actually trying to develop my own Pokemon map also. I have been using the generation 5 format of map and it has been driving me a bit crazy. But anyways, from one Pokemon map maker to another, best of luck!
